Were back on the air!

Hello listeners and supporters,

We have great news to report! The power to the tower is back on and we are running at full ability. Thank you for your patience while we were off and we hope to avoid problems like this in the future. Thanks to our staff at KRZA for going to the San Antonio Mountain and getting things back up and running for the community's listening pleasure.

Kit Carson Planned Outage

Hello listeners and supporters,

As you may know KRZA went off the air at approximately 1:30pm Thursday October 23rd, 2014. We are on top of the situation and we have informed our engineer and Kit Carson Electric (Our Energy Provider at the Tower site). Kit Carson let us know know that they are currently working on new lines on the San Antonio Mountain and that they will be putting power back on as soon as possible. We apologize that we were unable to inform you all before it took place but the information was not available to us until the last minute. We appreciate your continued support and patience with us as we go through transitions and issues like this. If you have any further questions or concerns please call the station at 719-589-8844 or 1-800-290-0887 and we will be glad to answer your questions.

Hello KRZA listeners,

We want to send a big THANK YOU!! out to all of you who supported our Fall Fund Drive this year. With your donations of money, time, food, and energy you have helped KRZA stay on the air longer. Also many thanks to Bittersweet Highway (Wayne McKenzie and Rene Janiece), all of the local musicians who performed, and the SLV Brewing Company for putting on our KRZA Benefest North on Sunday September 28th. Between the two fundraising efforts we were able to raise $12,118 and more pledges are still coming in the mail. We are still working on other fundraising efforts throughout the months too so be expecting to see KRZA in the community a lot more in the near future. More updates to come soon stay tuned!

Transmitter Update:

We apologize for the lower signal KRZA has been projecting over the air the past few weeks. Our transmitter received lightning damage that caused our modules to burn out. We have been working with our engineer Dirk Peratt to get an estimate for new parts to fix the problem. The good news is we are still on the air it is just not as strong of a signal as usual but we are hoping to be at full signal soon. We appreciate your patience with us as we go through staff and management changes and begin the process of updating our website site and social media sites.

We have a new Web Master!

With all the resent changes at KRZA Community Radio it’s been hard to keep you updated via our web site. But we are now getting some help from SLV resident Miles Eddy who is currently reviewing what we have and moving things forward. Please be patient as there is a lot of information and technology we are still putting together to better take advantage of the Internet and social media.

Come back soon for an update of what is happening at KRZA (like the fall fund drive that starts September 15).

Off-Air, This morning, May 23, 2014, Kit Carson Electric is experiencing another power outage on San Antonio Mt. We were told that the outage is due to a lightning strike. We don't know when the power will be back, and then we may have to return to the mountain to turn on the breaker again.

We have heard that Kit Carson is laying fiber up the mountain, and may also be laying new electric wires. That means we may continue to experience off-air times throughout the summer. Sigh.

We are still streaming, here, at krza.org. Tune in, and stay tuned!

OFF-AIR. This morning, Saturday May 17, Kit Carson again had a power outage on San Antonio Mt. This apparently has blown our breaker again. We are currently mounting an expedition to go to the mountain and flip on the breaker again. We should be back on the air -- unless the problem is more serious -- by late this afternoon or tomorrow by noon.

We are still streaming at KRZA.org.
