Transmitter Update:

We apologize for the lower signal KRZA has been projecting over the air the past few weeks. Our transmitter received lightning damage that caused our modules to burn out. We have been working with our engineer Dirk Peratt to get an estimate for new parts to fix the problem. The good news is we are still on the air it is just not as strong of a signal as usual but we are hoping to be at full signal soon. We appreciate your patience with us as we go through staff and management changes and begin the process of updating our website site and social media sites.

We have a new Web Master!

With all the resent changes at KRZA Community Radio it’s been hard to keep you updated via our web site. But we are now getting some help from SLV resident Miles Eddy who is currently reviewing what we have and moving things forward. Please be patient as there is a lot of information and technology we are still putting together to better take advantage of the Internet and social media.

Come back soon for an update of what is happening at KRZA (like the fall fund drive that starts September 15).

Off-Air, This morning, May 23, 2014, Kit Carson Electric is experiencing another power outage on San Antonio Mt. We were told that the outage is due to a lightning strike. We don't know when the power will be back, and then we may have to return to the mountain to turn on the breaker again.

We have heard that Kit Carson is laying fiber up the mountain, and may also be laying new electric wires. That means we may continue to experience off-air times throughout the summer. Sigh.

We are still streaming, here, at krza.org. Tune in, and stay tuned!

OFF-AIR. This morning, Saturday May 17, Kit Carson again had a power outage on San Antonio Mt. This apparently has blown our breaker again. We are currently mounting an expedition to go to the mountain and flip on the breaker again. We should be back on the air -- unless the problem is more serious -- by late this afternoon or tomorrow by noon.

We are still streaming at KRZA.org.

And we're back...

The power outage last Thursday flipped a breaker in the power box of the transmitter. Thank you for all your calls and we're glad to be alive and well!

Transmitter update

Update of being off-air: We believe that the power outage of last week caused the breaker switch to turn off the transmitter. At this point, we will probably have our engineer go up to the mountain on Thursday to get us back on-air. Remember, you can still listen on-line at krza.org.

Off-air update

The power was restored by Kit Carson Electric sometime yesterday afternoon. The KRZA transmitter on the tower site failed to start up. KRZA is in the process of getting an engineer to travel to San Antonio Mountain to troubleshoot or fix the transmitter.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience. You can still hear the broadcast online by clicking the "Listen Now" link to the right of this post.

Kit Carson Electric Power Outage

Kit Carson Electric is experiencing a power outage that affects San Antonio Mountain in New Mexico. The KRZA tower is located on this mountain and our tower, transmitter and other equipment have no power and are therefore not working. Because of this we are off-air. But you can still hear us online at www.krza.org.

We are unsure as to when this will be fixed. Please stay tuned and thank you for listening.
